Aid for International Students

Provided you hold a VISA (at bare minimum,) international students have a variety of undergraduate and graduate financial aid programs to choose from. You can find these offerings from educational institutions, private entities, professional associations, and even some individuals. To get you started on your search, we have listed numerous prominent examples of international student aid:

• Advanced Practice Healthcare Scholarship Grant

  • Graduate-trained advanced practice HCPs qualify for this $25,000 renewable grant. As part of the agreement, you must complete 12 months of full-time service at a qualifying direct care facility in the California area.

• University of Illinois at Chicago Laurette Kirstein Scholarship

  • Both full-time undergraduate and graduate students in any program (including nursing) at UIC qualify for this scholarship. Those who qualify must maintain at least a cumulative 3.5 GPA. The scholarship offers around $5,000. 

• East Tennessee State International Students Academic Merit Scholarship

  • This $12,500 scholarship is offered to international students applying to ETSU specifically. To qualify, you need a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 US Scale and either an F-1 or a J-1 Visa.

• Emergency Nursing Foundation/Sigma Theta Tau International Grant

  • Graduate students interested in shaping direct patient care policy and emergency nursing research can apply for this $6,000 grant.

• Geraldine “Polly” Bednash Scholarship

  • Baccalaureate students in programs partnered with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing can apply for this $5000 scholarship, provided that they have at least a 3.2 GPA from the school they most recently attended.
